Youth Leadership Academy

Youth Leadership Academy is a long term program and it comes as a strategy to create young leaders, the idea is to establish an Academy for young people to prepare them to become political leaders, the Academy will provide trainings, sources of information and experience to the youth so they will have the opportunity to become leaders in the future.

This year, the selected young people will participate in four training workshops, the training topics will be decided in a kick-off workshop that will be organized in the beginning of the project, this workshop is important to involve the participants in the project in early stage.

In addition to the training, the participants will attend six meetings with experts, politicians and officials to discuss important issues, the issues also will be decided in the kick-off workshop.

In order to benefit from the experience available in other countries, a representative of the Young Socialist of the SPD in Germany will be invited to meet the participants and transfer some of the practical experiences of the Young Socialists to the participants and to establish the first contact between them and the Academy, this contact will be developed in the future.

As we said earlier, the Academy will be also a source of information, discussion platform and an experience exchange tool. This will be done by creating a website where the participants (this year participants and future participants) will have an access to different kind of information such as local, regional and international political issues, political and economical debates, information related to social democracy and other related topics and sources of information. The website will also provide an access to internship opportunities and exchange programs, there will be also a calendar of political events and newsletters. The participants will have the opportunity to publish articles on the website and comment on them and on other selected articles that will be also presented in the website.

In the long term, we plan to make the Academy working on the regional level by receiving participants from the Arab countries and facilitate meetings between youth on regional level. In addition to that, the Academy will target young leaders in specific categories such as trade unions, professional associations, cultural centers and CSOs.
