Supporting Positive Dialogue:
The Identity Center believes in the importance of dialogue among the different component of the society, in this project we try to create opportunities of dialogue and debates on different issues that are important to the community, we try to bring the different stakeholders together and encourage them to exchange opinions and to jump over the existing barriers

Meeting with minister of political development:
28th of December, 2009

Under the title of “Jordan’s Reform Policies”, Identity Center organized an open meeting with the Minister of Political Development H. E. Eng. Musa Al Maaytah.
The event took place at Al-Hussein Cultural Center in Amman; Eng. Maaytah shared information about general policies in 2010, the coming municipal and parliamentary elections under a new law, and the decentralization through electing governorates councils which is planned to take place in 2011; in addition to the code of conduct between the media, the government, and the parliament.
The meeting lasted for 3 hours, and was attended by 100 people representing official bodies, embassies, cultural organizations, and civil society organizations, where they discussed different topics with the minister.
This event comes as one of the events and discussion meetings Identity Center is planning in the coming months covering a lot of areas of interest to the people and civil society organizations.
Human Rights Session:
8th of August, 2010
In cooperation with the Jordan Social Democratic Forum and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung – Amman office, Identity Center organized a discussion session with the human rights expert Prof. Herta Daubler-Gmelin on the topic of “Rule of Law and Human Rights”.
The session took place from 17:00 till 20:00 at the Landmark Hotel; the expert, who was the Federal Minister of Justice in Germany from 1998 – 2002 and the Deputy Chairman of the SPD from 1983 till 1993 provided an overview about the implementation of human rights in laws, especially under hard or sensitive security conditions, then answered attendees questions about the topic.
The Middle East Expedition (MEXP):
The Middle East Expedition is an action-based idea in motion. It is a traveling bus filled with creative people rolling through Jordan, Syria and Lebanon to discuss social engagement with a new and creative approach. With each stop in different cities, the people on the bus (project creators) will develop their projects with the help of the people they meet.
The outcome of the bus will be a major network of creative thinkers who want to see their possibilities in a new light. Common themes will be discussed to find diversity and connections, and a new focus will be put on involvement, engagement and responsibility.
The Identity Center is implementing the project in Jordan in partnership with the Danish organization “the Expedition”

The Recruitment Event:
30th of January, 2010
As a start of the cooperation between Identity Center and MEXP, a volunteers’ recruitment event for the MEXP project took place at Identity Center’s office; the event lasted for a full day where around sixty people came through the day and were briefed about the MEXP by Identity Center’s staff and the MEXP National Group. Interested people were invited to attend the national event.
The National Workshop:
20th of February, 2010
The next step in the MEXP project was holding the national event which is a full day event for interested expected volunteers to explain more about the MEXP and how can they join the project.
The event was held at Al-Hussein Cultural Center, and the day consisted of four sessions that included a complete description of the project and its objectives, in addition to the applying method and methods about how participants might start fund raising for their projects.
Election Observation
Observing OCV:
5th – 7th of March, 2010
Identity Center organized an elections observation team that consisted of fifty elections observers to observe the out of country voting in Jordan (OCV) for the Iraqi parliamentary elections.
Identity Center efforts was based on the decision of the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq (IHEC) to organize OCV in sixteen countries, Jordan is one of these countries with the second highest percentage of Iraqis living outside Iraq after Syria.
Identity Center elections observation network for the Iraqi elections is considered an international observation network that observed the voting in the OCV in Jordan in all of the sixteen voting centers in Amman, Irbid, Madaba, and Zarqa.
Identity Center held a press conference about observing the OCV in Jordan directly after the end of the voting process, and issued a detailed observation report that were distributed on interested organizations.
It is worth mentioning that the fifty observers were trained by Identity Center and supported by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung – Amman office.
Training observers in Sudan:
26th of March till 1st of April 2010
As a participation in the observation of the Sudanese elections, Identity Center implemented a ToT workshop on the topic of elections observation for the Sudanese Platform of CSOs for Elections Observation; the training workshop was held in Khartoum – Sudan for representatives of the CSOs participating in the network.
The training workshop lasted for six days and was customized according to the regulations of the Sudanese National Electoral Commission (NEC) with taking into consideration the international standards for elections observation.
The training also included capacity building for the domestic observers’ mission by building the organizational structure and job descriptions of the network steering committee members. The training workshop was done in cooperation with the Sudanese Platform of CSOs for Elections Observation and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung – Khartoum office.
